The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared that, it is currently leading with majority of parliamentary seats confirming 140 seats so far.

This, the party officials have projected that it puts their presidential candidate John Mahama in a lead positionas they claim, the presidential candidate in most cases performed better than their parliamentary candidates.

The Director of Elections of the Party, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, who made the announcement in Accra on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, rubbished the claims by the NPP that they are leading in both Parliamentary and Presidential.

He added that instead, the NDC is currently leading in both Parliamentary and presidential results.

“Now if you understand electoral politics very well you would realize that wherever the Parliamentary Candidates win the Presidential candidate also wins. So it would be absurd for somebody to say that in the face of this they’ve won the election”, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah stressed.

He also disclosed that for the first time “from the collation we have, John Mahama is doing over 30% in Ashanti region and Greater Accra we are doing  56%.

The NDC Director of Elections gave the break-down of the seats as follows and urged all supporters to mass up at the collation centres to prevent the NPP from changing the results.

    Breakdown of the 140 seats:

    Upper west – 8

    Upper east – 6

    Northern – 9 out 18

    Bono – 6

    Ahafo – 2

    Bono East – 9

    Western region – 9

    Western North – 7

    Greater Accra – 20

    Central Region – 13

    Oti – 8

    Volta – 17

    Savannah – 4

    Eastern – 8

    Ashanti – 4
