In a move highlighting the administration’s commitment to high-level governance and transformational leadership, the Chief of Staff to the President, Honourable Julius Debrah, has departed for the United States to participate in the prestigious 2026 Harvard University Ministerial Leadership Program.
The program, a joint initiative of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the Harvard Kennedy School, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, is designed for senior government leaders who are driving major national initiatives. Mr. Debrah’s participation comes at a pivotal time for the Mahama administration as it seeks to consolidate economic gains and streamline public service delivery.
A Global Platform for Local Impact
The Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program is renowned for its “catalytic role” in supporting ministers and high-ranking officials to implement transformational changes. For Mr. Debrah, who has been a central figure in the administration’s “Bold Ideas” agenda including the highly successful Kwahu Business Forum this engagement represents an opportunity to align Ghana’s development goals with international best practices.
Sources within the Jubilee House indicate that the Chief of Staff will focus on:
Cross-government delivery systems to improve efficiency in social interventions.
Human development outcomes, particularly in health and education.
Strategic leadership in navigating global economic challenges.
Leadership Reaffirmed
The news of his departure has been met with praise from political analysts who view this as a strategic “sharpening of the axe.”
President John Dramani Mahama has previously lauded Mr. Debrah as a “visionary co-conspirator” in the government’s developmental drive. By attending this forum, the Chief of Staff is expected to bring back refined frameworks for the President’s second-term agenda.
”The goal is not just to represent Ghana, but to bring back the tools that will ensure our national policies translate into tangible improvements in the lives of every Ghanaian,” a senior aide remarked.
The program is specifically structured to ensure that leaders remain “on the move,” translating academic insights into immediate executive action.
As the 2026 administrative year hits its stride, Julius Debrah remains a key engine in the machinery of the presidency, now backed by the global expertise of one of the world’s leading academic institutions.
