In a stirring address at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, President John Dramani Mahama issued a heartfelt appeal to Ghanaians to transcend the parochial divisions that imperil the country’s unity and progress. With conviction and eloquence, he underscored the imperative of fostering an ethos of togetherness and mutual respect, as the country navigates the complexities of its development trajectory.

“Let us remain steadfast in our vigilance against the insidious whispers of tribalism, the strident voices of religious extremism, and the toxic influence of partisan divisions,” President Mahama exhorted.

“These are the corrosive forces that we must resolutely reject, lest they take root in our beloved nation, Ghana, and undermine our collective aspirations.”

Mahama’s impassioned plea was rooted in a profound commitment to the values of peace, compassion, and mutual respect.

“We must harness the power of language to heal, rather than harm,” he emphasized. “We must build bridges of understanding, rather than barriers of division, for we are one people, sharing one land, and pursuing a common destiny.”

In a nuanced reflection on leadership and accountability, President Mahama stressed the sacrosanct nature of public office, underscoring the need for leaders to be guided by the highest standards of integrity and humility.

“Public office is not a privilege for personal aggrandizement,” he declared. “Rather, it is a sacred trust, bestowed by the people, and a responsibility to serve the common good, with a special obligation to protect and uplift the most vulnerable members of our society.”

In a powerful affirmation of his commitment to the rule of law, President Mahama reiterated that even the office of the President is not above the law. The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, which brought together people from all walks of life, served as a poignant reminder of the country’s collective quest for peace, integrity, and national renewal

National Prayers and thanks for the masses.
