The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has issued a strong reminder to the public, job placements under the agency are free, fair, and strictly based on merit.

The Chief Executive Officer, Malik Basintale, is urging young Ghanaians to steer clear of bribery and report any suspicious demands for money during registration.

Speaking on Amanie 93.3 FM, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Abdul-Wahab Jawando, reinforced the message, saying, “YEA job opportunities are entirely free and based on merit.” He called on citizens to report anyone who attempts to exploit the system for personal gain.

Mr. Jawando assured that all beneficiaries under YEA are being paid above the national minimum wage. “It is a core policy of the agency that no beneficiary earns below the national minimum wage,” he stated.

He explained that YEA, which operates under the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, was established under Act 887 in 2015 to support youth aged 15 to 35. The agency offers employment in sectors such as education, health, security, environment, and corporate services.

Highlighting recent milestones, Mr. Jawando revealed that 12,000 Community Protection Assistants have graduated in partnership with the Ghana Police Service. Additionally, 5,000 Fire Service Assistants have been trained with the Ghana National Fire Service, while training is ongoing for Prison Service Assistants and Community Medical First Responders in collaboration with the Ghana Ambulance Service.

He encouraged young people to apply through the official YEA website or visit any regional or district office for guidance.

Mr. Jawando added that CEO Malik Basintale is committed to ensuring that youth not only earn stipends but also gain practical experience and entrepreneurial support. He also announced the upcoming rollout of the Arabic Instructors Module.

“We are committed to supporting our Arabic instructors and fully prepared to implement this initiative as part of President John Dramani Mahama’s promise,” he said.

With a renewed focus on transparency, skills development, and youth empowerment, YEA is positioning itself as a key player in Ghana’s job creation drive.
