A seasoned journalist, Adnan Adams Mohammed, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to consider Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings for the position of Ghana’s Defence Minister.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Mohammed cited Dr. Zanetor’s wealth of experience in Parliament, security and conflict management, leadership skills, and commitment to Ghana’s development as making her an ideal candidate for the role.
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings a third term Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle and daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, is currently the Chairperson of Select Committee on Security and Intelligence and a member of the Pan African Parliament (PAP), the legislative arm of the African Union (AU).
“Her passion for the well-being of our nation is evident in her tireless advocacy for the rights of the Ghanaian people,” Mohammed said.
“As a seasoned politician and a member of your government, she has proven herself to be a strong and capable leader, with a deep understanding of the complexities of national security.”
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is a well-known politician and a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). She has served in various capacities in government and has been a vocal advocate for women’s rights and national development.

The President has not yet responded to the suggestion, but sources close to him indicate that he values the opinion of seasoned journalists like Adnan Adams Mohammed.
