In the heat of controversies and opposition to the appointment of of Anthony Kwasi Sarpong as the Commissioner-General of Ghana Revenue Authority, the Central Regional branch of NDC has commended President John Mahama for the appointment.
Many NDC grassroot members had previously vehemently opposed the appointment and attempted to stop him from entering the GRA headquarters building to assume his official duties.
The agitated party members, who were initially misinformed, labelled the former KPMG partner as NPP member. However, the Central Region NDC clarified that, Mr Sarpong is a financier of both Upper Denkyira West and East.
“Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong has been an exemplary member of the NDC since 2012, consistently demonstrating unwavering commitment to the party’s growth and development”, a statement signed by the regional Chairman Prof Richard Asiedu noted.
“His financial support and grassroots mobilization efforts have significantly contributed to the party’s success in the region.”
