Criticism Must Come With Credibility; NPP Lost That Long Ago Through Poor Governance, Economic Haircuts – Assemblymember Fires

An Assembly Member and a member of the Communications Team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akatsi South, Japhet Festus Gbede, has criticised the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that its criticism of the NDC lacks credibility and moral authority.

In a strongly worded social media post, Mr. Gbede noted that criticism is an essential component of democratic governance but argued that it must be grounded in honesty, responsibility, and credibility. According to him, the NPP lost the moral right to credibly criticise the NDC due to what he described as years of poor governance, policy failures, and repeated excuses while in government.

He stressed that until the NPP openly accepts responsibility for the economic hardship and challenges Ghanaians endured under its administration, its attacks on the current government would remain hollow, baseless, and politically opportunistic.

Mr. Gbede, who is also a Special Aide to Alhaji Said Sinare, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is widely known within political circles as a fearless and vocal communicator who consistently articulates and defends the policies and values of the NDC.

His comments come amid heightened political discourse between the governing NDC and the opposition NPP, as national attention remains focused on governance, accountability, and efforts to stabilise and rebuild the economy.

He reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to responsible leadership and transparent governance, urging Ghanaians to assess political commentary based on track record and credibility rather than rhetoric.
