In a major move to decentralize operations and reduce congestion, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has officially commissioned two state-of-the-art “Ultra-Centers” in the Ashanti Region.

The expansion comes with the introduction of two new vehicle registration designations: KA for Kumasi Adum and KB for Kumasi Bantama.

    Enhancing Public Accessibility

The commissioning ceremonies, held in Adum and Bantama, represent a strategic leap in the Authority’s mission to bring licensing services closer to the motoring public. These Ultra-Centers are designed to provide premium, streamlined services, significantly cutting down wait times for license renewals and vehicle registrations.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, lauded the local leadership for their cooperation.

”We are immensely grateful to the Chiefs and the people of Adum for their warm reception,” Mr. Kotey stated. “Our progress here would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and our dedicated project partners.”

Mr. Kotey emphasized that the DVLA is committed to a nationwide rollout of the Ultra-Center model through strategic public-private partnerships, ensuring that “convenience is not a luxury, but a standard” for all Ghanaian drivers.

Konongo Next in Line for Expansion

The Authority’s regional drive didn’t stop in the heart of Kumasi. Immediately following the Adum commissioning, Mr. Kotey led a technical team to Konongo to inspect a site earmarked for the next Ultra-Center.

The inspection signals the DVLA’s intent to fortify its presence along the busy Accra-Kumasi highway, providing a critical service hub for motorists in the Ashanti Akim Central Municipality. The Konongo facility is expected to alleviate the pressure on existing centers and further digitize the region’s transport administration.
