In a significant development for the Assemblies of God Ghana, the General Superintendent, Rev. Stephen Wengam, alongside the Regional Superintendent for the Greater Accra East region, Rev. Andrew Nelson Awintia, initiated the construction of 30 churches and parsonages in Ada Ningo Prampram.

This ambitious project is sponsored by the First Sky Group, led by Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse, a devoted member and Deacon at the Trinity Temple Assemblies of God (TTAG) in Tema Community 10, and the Executive Chairman of First Sky Group.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held at New Ningo Prampram on Monday, saw the attendance of several dignitaries, including the Senior Pastor, Rev. Sylvanus Elorm Amegashie, and all Executive Committee members of the region, as well as numerous church members.

The Legacy Project, in alignment with Rev. Wengam’s vision, aims to provide suitable places of worship and decent accommodation for pastors. Mr. John Awate, a member of the project committee, announced that a four-member committee has been established to oversee the construction. Each church structure will accommodate 200–450 people and include a children’s worship centre, a general office, a pastor’s office, and other necessary amenities.

Rev. Wengam emphasised the importance of the project, noting that 60% of their churches are located in rural areas, making the construction of appropriate houses of worship challenging. He highlighted two key components of the church’s transformative goal: the Rebuild initiative, which focuses on constructing temples under the Legacy Project, and the Reach Agenda, led by the Church Planting Commission.

He called on businesses and individuals in Ghana to contribute to the Legacy Project, stressing its vital role in building and completing temples across the nation.

Rev. Andrew Nelson Awintia reiterated the vision of the Assemblies of God, Greater Accra East, as outlined in its strategic plan for 2023-2031.

The plan aims to advance the gospel by planting and revitalising churches. The region currently has 279 churches, of which 52% (144 churches) lack land and buildings. He urged everyone to support this kingdom agenda by investing their gifts, influence, and resources to provide suitable places of worship for these 144 churches and support church planting in at least 127 communities within the Greater Accra East that currently lack Assemblies of God churches.
