The presidential candidate of the NDC, John Mahama, has boldly refused to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election results as declared by the chairperson of Electoral Commission.

Addressing the media, Ghanaians and the international community on election declaration on Thursday night, John Mahama siad, “we will not accept fictional results of a flawed elections.”

“We will not accept anything short of a declaration of the legitimate results which points to an NDC parliamentary majority.”

“There is no doubt Ghanaians voted for change.”

Mr Mahama accused President Nana Akufo Addo of a desire to hold on to power, saying there “is a redetermined plan to manipulate the elections.”

He further accused the Electoral Commission as being in cahoots with the incumbent to rig the elections using a calculated attempt to subvert the will of the people.

“By the end of the election, [the NDC] had a working majority of 140 seats. There is a deliberate attempt to target 5 constituencies to subvert the will of the people.”

“The Ashanti Region provides fundamental problems that need to be investigated and a full scale audit.”

He indicated that, prior to the elections there were many incidents where ballot papers already thumbprinted were found in various locations.

“President Akufo-Addo is hungry for power, so using state resources and the security services to thwart the process.

“My condolences to all those who were killed by those whose thirst for power outweighs their love for their country.

“This is not a dictatorship or a monarchy or family for the benefit of a single family. Ghana belongs to the people of Ghana.”

Mr Mahama who is not happy with the media reportage on the elections in totality and the figures they were transmitting on their channels called on the media to be diligent and also called on the international community “to engage and ensure that the right thing is done” and “to take careful note to the threat to our democracy.”

He assured the people of Ghana to be calm because “their cries for change will not go unheard”. And asks NDC supporters and those who voted for NDC to do same.

“I choose to be a determined optimist based on my own principles of faith.

“We will take all legitimate steps to reverse this travesty of justice.

“Let me assure you my dear voter, that your vote will count.”
